This is the Small-Carved
box, taken out to a eight-sided box. The pierced carving
pattern is old Chinese. Behind the pattern is New Zealand
Paua. The box is felt lined and segmented, with a lift off
lid and a top lift out segmented tray.
Although the pierced carving is of a Chinese
origin, this box has a distinctly Victorian look and sits
well with antique bedroom furniture.

Paua shellfish is a species of abalone (Haliotis
Iris) much used for jewellery and inlay work. The timber
is dark demolition Matai.
Finish is with Danish oil.
